Building 689 at the San Antonio State Supported Living Center is an approximately 45,000 SF single story facility consisting of meeting rooms, group rooms, offices, an indoor pool and a multipurpose gymnasium space.
Studio Plearn served as the Associate Architect and local representation for the project for Thiel Design Group. Most of the flooring was original to the building with some areas replaced with newer material to match the existing. In some locations the flooring has been removed exposing the black mastic beneath.
Testing of the floor slab was performed in advance of the installation of any material to confirm the concrete slab’s moisture and PH content. New VCT flooring was installed throughout the facility where old product had been removed improving the overall quality of the space for the users.
